Cyanotype sun-printing workshop
£600 / per group · 4 hr
Overview
I'm Nigel, a photographer based near Bath on the edge of the Cotswolds, and I come to your stay to run a relaxed half-day or full-day session. I teach cyanotype printing, a simple camera-less process where sunlight does the work and everyone leaves with prints they have made themselves. I also run iPhone photography and videography sessions, helping you get far more out of the phone already in your pocket. Both are easy to enjoy whether you have picked up a camera before or not. We work around your group, your stay and the light we have.

Bespoke experiences
Tell Nigel what you have in mind: the occasion, the group, the twist. They’ll come back with a quote shaped around it.
Before you book
Just a kitchen table and a sink nearby for the cyanotype session, plus a little outdoor space if the sun is out. For the phone session, bring your own iPhone charged and ready. Everything else is on me.
I bring everything needed for the session. For cyanotypes that means the chemistry, papers and tools so everyone can make and take home their own prints. For the phone sessions I bring my knowledge and a few simple bits of kit, and we use the phones you already have.
Full refund if you cancel more than 14 days before the start date. No refund if you cancel within 14 days.
2-8 guests
If your plans change, you can contact your provider to adjust the timing or amend your booking.
Pricing is quote-based and confirmed after a quick chat, once I know your group size, your stay and whether you'd like a half day or full day. There's no fixed minimum spend, and I'll always be clear on cost before anything is booked.
Photographic artist
I'm Nigel, a visual artist working near Bath on the edge of the Cotswolds. I have worked widely with both digital and analogue photography and film for over 20 years. My work has been exhibited widely in the UK, Italy, Greece, Germany, Mexico and Argentina. I teach at a gentle pace, with no jargon and allow plenty of time for attendees to learn more about the cyanotype process and its uses.
Sessions are informative and practical, and delivered in a relaxed format where everyone will gain the skills to create their own images
My background spans digital and traditional film photography, including darkroom and pinhole work, which is where the patience and care in my teaching come from. Years of working with the slower analogue side have taught me to keep things simple and let people learn by doing. I have over 20 years experience teaching in a wide range of settings from informal sessions to degree level courses. I have a Masters in Fine Art and my work has been exhibited widely in the UK and abroad.
