Two-Day Stone Carving Course

Overview

Create your own unique work of art

Over two days, you will design and carve your own sculpture in Cotswold limestone.

Even if you’ve never picked up a chisel before, you’ll take away a work of art you’ll feel proud of. You’ll enjoy good company, great food, and expert guidance from David.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace. This is a creative carving course so you will create your own unique design - either bringing along an idea you'd like to create, or asking David to help you find inspiration in the stone.

Groups are small, from two to five people, to ensure plenty of personal attention for everyone, and a delicious home-cooked lunch is included on both days.

About me

I'm a creative stone carver, sculptor and dry stone waller, based in the Cotswold Lakes. My work is mostly nature and folklore led, with some letter cutting, harking back to my days in the print industry. Dust on the fingers, ink in the veins...

What I'm known for

Patience, creative guidance and skill in teaching complete beginners and those with some creative experience.

My background and experience

I've been creating stone sculpture since 2008 and teaching since 2017. Alongside this I'm a dry stone waller with over 20 years' experience in the Cotswolds. The people who join our courses come from a wide range of backgrounds, and most have never been near a chisel in their life.

Where to meet your host

My studio in South Cerney in the Cotswold Lakes.

The Cotswolds

A small region, generously uncovered: stone cottages, long lunches, wild swims, private chefs. Stay a while. Do something worth the journey.
