Private Wildlife Walks in the Cotswolds

Overview

Discover wildlife in the Cotswolds with an expert guide

I am a naturalist and wildlife guide, and I take small groups out to find the wildlife most people walk straight past. We might be listening to birdsong, watching butterflies, spotting wildflowers or spotting footprints, feathers and feeding signs that show what has passed through.

I tailor every outing to you, whether you are brand new to nature or a keen birder, and keep it relaxed, unhurried and full of the small discoveries that make a place come alive. Binoculars and a lifetime of fieldcraft are provided.

About me

I have spent my life watching wildlife from studying peregrine falcons to guiding people of all ages through woods, wetlands and valleys. I am a naturalist, author and long-time birder, and my favourite thing is helping someone notice a bird or animal they would never have spotted alone. I keep things friendly, clear and unhurried, whatever your level.

What I'm known for

Finding the wildlife people miss, and making birdsong and fieldcraft easy for anyone to enjoy.

My background and experience

Twenty-eight years of wildlife research and guiding, including long-term study of peregrine falcons and work with leading conservation organisations, museums and universities. I lead dawn chorus walks, wild boar and deer safaris and birdsong courses across the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and Cotswolds. Every outing is private and tailored, from a gentle hour to a half day, shaped around what you would most like to see.

Where to meet your host

I meet you at a range of venues in the Cotswolds including wildflower meadows at Calcot Manor Hotel, the Cotswold villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter or Slimbridge Wildfowl & Wetland Trust.

The Cotswolds

A small region, generously uncovered: stone cottages, long lunches, wild swims, private chefs. Stay a while. Do something worth the journey.
