About

About

Carter’s Close is a distinctive English country house set quietly within the well-known village of Bibury. The house has a gentle, lived-in charm, with its defining longhouse layout: a single flowing space that brings together a cook’s kitchen, sitting room, dining room, and drawing room, anchored by two open fires. There is also a separate study. The setting is peaceful, private, and ideal for relaxed stays with family or friends.

Inside

The interiors are warm and characterful, shaped by a mix of original features and contemporary art. The long, open-plan living area creates an easy rhythm to the house, with room for cooking, gathering, and quiet time. Dogs are welcome by arrangement. For security, discreet external CCTV is in place but only reviewed in the event of an issue.

Outside

The gardens are one of Carter’s Close’s greatest features: a mix of lawn, woodland, wildflower areas, winding paths, and an eclectic sculpture collection. The grounds lead — through a gated entrance — to the banks of the River Coln. There is a tennis court, and plenty of space to explore or simply sit and take in the setting.

Find the house

William Morris once described Bibury as “the most beautiful village in England,” and it remains one of the Cotswolds’ most celebrated spots. Pubs, restaurants, and the Bibury Trout Farm are all within walking distance, with the wider Cotswolds easy to reach for day trips.
