The Little Cottage Kingham
Kingham, CotswoldsOverview
A thatched hideaway built for two
The Little Cottage is a one-bedroom thatched cottage on the green at Kingham, built and furnished for two adults and nobody else. Honey-coloured stone and low beams sit behind a front garden of wildflowers, verbena and lavender, in one of the village's quieter corners.
The interiors are a collector's rather than a decorator's: years in film, travel abroad and a long habit of buying antiques, assembled over time instead of styled in one go. Materials and craftsmanship are local and deliberate throughout, chosen to work with the building's age rather than cover it.

Inside the home
Where every room tells a story
About the space
Electric AGA, log burner, a terrace on the green
Inside
The original front door opens straight into a vaulted, open-plan kitchen and dining room, with a hand-built barn-sawn oak kitchen at its centre. There is an electric AGA, a Nespresso machine, a dishwasher, underfloor heating, and a separate utility room with a washer-dryer.
Next door the sitting room is low-beamed and deliberately dim, with deep linen sofas, a log burner and Netflix. Upstairs the bedroom holds a king-size bed on a Vispring mattress dressed in organic linen. A large marble-tiled shower room sits beside it, and beyond that a separate bathroom and dressing room, both fitted with Waterworks taps and showers and stocked with Wildsmith products, rice-weave towels and light dressing gowns.
Outside
A private terrace looks out over the green, which is where breakfast, evening drinks and dinner for two tend to happen. Private gated parking on the gravel drive takes one car, an SUV included.
A welcome hamper is left for you on arrival: sourdough, eggs, milk, butter and a bottle of sparkling rosé from the farm shop down the road.
Where you’ll be and what to do
The Little Cottage sits on the green in Kingham, which Country Life once named England's favourite village. The Wild Rabbit and The Kingham Plough are both about five minutes on foot and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, with takeaway from the Plough. Daylesford Organic and the Bamford Club are a two minute drive, or a half hour walk across the fields. There is bike hire in the village, and Chipping Norton, Stow and Burford are a short drive. Kingham has direct trains to Paddington.
